November 5, 2000 Mr. Bill Roux Re: Damaged road signs Dear Sir: I have brought the subject of D.P.W. workers destroying road signs on a least two other occasions. I again bring it to your attention with the hopes that you will finally do something about it. On September 16th I brought to your attention the lack of road signs at Chester Diez Road. Your sign crew responded immediately and installed the proper signage on September 17th. In the past few days D.P.W. mowing machines have damaged these signs, along with many others in the parish. It is evident that these employees have a total disregard for parish property, the cost of the property and its installation born by we tax payers, and last but most importantly, a could care less attitude towards parish residents well being and safety. In my opinion this careless attitude must stop. I would strongly suggest the issuance of pink slips to those operators of the mowing equipment as a first deterrent. If that fails, pink slips to supervision directly in charge of mowing operations.
