June 20, 2001 Ascension Parish Sheriff Department Dear Sir: Please accept this letter as a formal complaint regarding the lack of traffic enforcement by the Ascension Parish Sheriff Department with regards to Cornerview Road, from the Gonzales town line to Highway 73 Vehicles on this road are constantly violating the speed limit and crossing double the solid lines in the sharp curves that exist on this road. I travel this road on an average of 2 to 3 times a week and have not in any of those travels viewed one single deputy ticketing or monitoring the speed limit. The department of public works and the Department of Transportation installed numerous warning and speed signs on this road some time ago. Yet the Sheriff Department in all that time has yet to enforce one of those signs. As you might well be aware, this road is heavily traveled day and night, and in my opinion one of the more dangerous roads in the parish due to the multiple sharp curves that exist there. Yet monitoring of this road by your organization does not exist. If you feel that the State Police should assist in monitoring traffic violators on this road, then by all means find the time in your all too busy schedule to contact them.
