Ascension Parish Sheriff Department
828 South Irma Blvd
Gonzales, La. 70737

 Mr. Wiley,

I have brought to your attention previously the dangerous situation that exists at C. Braud Road, but it seems it has fallen of deaf ears at the Sheriff Department.

To be very blunt, I believe your ability to keep Ascension Parish roads safe sucks! Why else would Ascension Parish have the disgraceful honor of having more traffic accidents than any other parish in Louisiana for its size?

You can drive around Ascension Parish morning, noon, and night and very seldom see an Ascension Parish deputy enforcing traffic speed laws. And when you do see your motorcycle patrol in fact doing their job they are in groups of two or three. How many motorcycle deputies does it take to operate a radar gun?

It is my opinion, and as you can see from the attached feed back and others on my web site, that Ascension Parish residents are dissatisfied with the Ascension Parish Sheriff Department’s ability to enforce traffic laws that keep Ascension Parish roads safe.

We have contacted the sheriffs department many times about the traffic on C Braud Road. Speeding is horrible early in the mornings from 6:30 to 9:00 and the afternoons from 2:30 to 6:00. Maybe twice the sheriffs department has sent someone out. They sit in the church parking lot at about 11:30 am for about twent to thirty minutes then leave. This is the wrong time . Is it going to take one of the many kids waiting for the school bus in the early morning hours or getting off the bus in the afternoon to get hurt or possibly killed before the sheriffs office does something about this. This road is too narrow for speeding cars to try to hurry and pass a school bus because they are in a hurry to get somewhere. Yesterday, a young boy on a Ninja motorcycle passed as we were outside popping wheelies as he was going down the road doing a least 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Something needs to be done NOW!!
