If you came to this page via a search engine and would like to return to the website click here I've published our annual incompetence awards one month early this year to make sure that those enshrined here get to see what a majority of the parish thought of them as the election results bear out.
The last four years have been horrible, no, a damned shame.
We have rid ourselves of the parish president with no agenda
other than his own and some of the council that caused so many impasses
hopefully those remaining have seen the light. If not don't wait for elections to roll around again voice your dissatisfaction loud and often.
The incompetence award to immigration was sent
to Washington D.C. along with the following letter.
November 15, 2007 Sir or Madam: I would much rather have delivered this incompetence award in person to your Baton Rouge or New Orleans office but after months of no one answering the phones or returning calls I have no recourse but to send it to you in the hopes it will be passed along to the proper person(s) that justly deserve it. The fact that I and others have never been able to contact agents here leads us to believe no one in your organization is concerned with removing illegals from Ascension Parish. This is evident from the fact that there has not been one instance where your agents have come into our parish to remove the infestation of illegals which is increasing exponentially running amuck throughout our parish. Your organization truly deserves the incompetence award given by this website. Without Respect Chuck Le Mieux Webmaster
To: Sheriff Jeff Wiley & Chief Bill Landry Attached is Inside Ascension Parish Website’ eighth annual appreciation award for efforts your departments have made in reducing traffic fatalities in 2007 to their lowest level since the year 2000. While this is a significant achievement there is still much room for improvements. Chief among these improvements are the placement of red light cameras. You can go to any intersection at any time of the day or night and find at least one motorist, if not more, running a red light each time the light changes. I realize that most intersections come under the jurisdiction of the D.O.T.D. but I would think that it would be up to both of you, the Parish President, and your councils to put pressure on them to install the red light cameras. Another area of concern is the speeders. Go to any road in the parish with a curve in it and you will find drivers exceeding the speed limit to the point where they are unable to keep their vehicle from crossing the solid double lines. Go to any road in the parish and find speeders exceeding the speed limit by 20 to 30 MPH day or night. And last more DWI and license/insurance traffic stops. I find a significant lack of sheriff and police units enforcing traffic laws. Some time ago I made a suggestion to set up special units and dividing the parish into areas and let these units randomly check for violators 365 days a year. This seems to have fallen on deaf ears. I don’t want to hear that we don’t have the manpower or funds. This is one of the richest parishes in the state and I know if one puts their mind to it they can find the funds to implement the changes I’ve suggested and some I haven’t. One suggestion that comes to mind for funding would be to get us out from underneath that white elephant called Lamar Dixon the last administration stuck us with and put those funds being wasted where they would really do some good. As you are well aware 280 souls have died on parish roads since 1995 and two of those souls were from my family. Hopefully these suggestions will be put into effect and we can reduce traffic fatalities further.
