Subject: An apology
Mr. Roux,
It was brought to my attention this morning by Mr. Marchand that in a letter to you dated June, 11, 2000, with reference to unsafe road conditions, that my choice of words was misleading. The paragraph in question is as follows-

"I might also add here that it seems to me that since Mr. George Brown has left his position with public works that it’s back to business as usual. That being, doing nothing, or taking an unreasonable amount of time to resolve complaints turned in by parish residents."

It was not my intention to portray this administration as doing nothing. I have this day changed that letters paragraph published on my web site, and sent this email to those who received the original letter, to read-

"I might also add here that it seems to me that since Mr. George Brown has left his position with public works that it’s back to business as usual practiced by the past administration. That being, doing nothing, or taking an unreasonable amount of time to resolve complaints turned in by parish residents."

While I am no where near satisfied with the progress being made by this administration to resolve the serious safety issues that exist on our roads, I will admit that there has been an effort by your department in that direction.

I apologize for any discomfort this oversight on my part may have caused you.
