Mr. Shafter Kling
Ascension Parish Council
37236 Highway 74
Geismar, La 70734-3216
Dear Sir:
I would like for you to bring forth at your
earliest convenience, resolutions, and or awareness to the Parish Council, the
following issues.
q
Progress with regards to implementing the creation of a school
zone on highway 74 at Dutchtown School Road.
Target date to accomplish this is before August 14, 2000, the first day
of school.
q
Lack of cooperation from Ascension Parish Public Works, Mr. Bill
Roux, and Mr. Doyle Mitchell, regarding safety issues existing at Cal Road. The
Parish President, etal, was formally put on notice of these conditions on April
9, 2000, and follow up email to Mr. Roux, etal sent on June 14, 2000 has gone
unanswered as of this date.
I request that you also remind the council and parish president that Mr. Roux
and Mr. Doyle Mitchell are his POLITICAL appointees and as such he is
responsible for there actions, or lack of such action.
q
Lack of cooperation from Ascension Parish Public Works, Mr. Bill
Roux, and Mr. Doyle Mitchell, regarding safety issues existing at Boudreaux
Road. The Parish President, etal, was formally put on notice of these conditions
on April 5, 2000, and follow up email to Mr. Roux, etal sent on June 11, 2000
has gone unanswered as of this date.
I again request that you remind the council and parish president that Mr. Roux
and Mr. Doyle Mitchell are his POLITICAL appointees and as such he is
responsible for there actions, or lack of such action.
q
A resolution requiring all Parish Council positions is made
mandatory full time positions.
The availability of Parish council members is next to impossible during the
normal workday / workweek. i.e. Monday through Friday, 9AM till 5PM.
This is due to the fact that the majority of the members hold full time jobs
elsewhere, and can only address parish issues on weekends and evenings. This
effectively makes Ascension Parish government a part time effort.
q
A resolution requiring arrangements due to absence.
I also request that a resolution be made that, in the advent that a council
member who is absent from his or her designated district, e.g. vacation,
business trip, etc., have prior arrangements made to have their constituents
issues handled in some other manner at the time it’s presented, and not when
he or she returns form that absence.
q
A resolution requiring a council members availability be directly
accessible during the normal business day / workweek.
I request a resolution be made, that until such a time that a full time parish
government can be installed, that each and every member of the council make
themselves directly available to their constituents Monday through Friday from
9AM till 5PM, using devices such as telephone, pager, etc. And if this cannot be
accomplished, those council members resign and make way for those that can.
q
A follow up concerning the recommendation / resolution to reduce
the vehicular weight limit for C Braud Road to effectively exclude it’s use to
tractor trailer traffic.
Sincerely,
Chuck Le Mieux
A concerned and disappointed parish resident
