To: Ascension Parish Council

 Sirs and Madam:

I would like to at this time explain in further detail the idea of passing an ordinance to rid this parish of illegal aliens.

We are at the brink of having a big problem in Ascension Parish when it comes to illegal aliens. Federal government keeps back sliding on implementing laws to stem the flow of illegal aliens. Our law enforcement hands are tied do anything to stop it.

Ascension Parish has become a safe haven illegal aliens. This stigma invites more and more illegal aliens to come to this parish every day as they know nothing will be done to them.

Illegal aliens in this parish put a tax on everyone. Law enforcement, social services, building trades etc.

I believe that we would have to implement this ordinance in such a way that will not add any further burden on law enforcement. As it stands the federal procedure in force now is to catch and release. This is a complete waste of time. Instead we need to get to the persons responsible for make Ascension Parish a safe haven for illegal aliens, i.e. those renting to and or hiring them.

The following scenario I believe is a way to stop illegal aliens from coming to the parish and have those already here to leave with a minimum impact on parish resources.

The council passes an ordinance to the sheriff’s department and local police departments to do the following:

Parish deputy and or police officer when stopping someone believed to be an illegal alien gets name of renter and or name of company hiring illegal.

If the illegal alien(s) give the deputy and or police officer an Ascension Parish address or business residing in Ascension Parish the information is turned over to the parish.

Parish sends warning letter to renter and or company hiring illegal(s) giving them 30 days to get rid of illegal(s) or face a fine of $1000 per illegal(s) and loss of license in the case of hiring.

Parish follows up no more than 30 days after latter. If illegal(s) still exists then the fine od $1000 per illegal and or loss of license is imposed. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I believe that this scenario can be implemented using a minimum amount of parish employees, possibly as little as 3 or 4. An all out campaign is not necessary. I believe when word gets out a majority of illegal aliens will leave on their own or because renters and companies don’t want fines and or loss of license imposed on them.

Other cities and towns around country have implemented similar ordinances with good results. Below are internet addresses of cities and towns who have implemented similar ordinances with good results.

As our parish council your primary responsibility lies with protecting citizens of the parish from situations that would bring harm to them, both physical and financial. In the case of illegal aliens this is a very real problem.

If you fail to act on this problem immediately consider yourselves part of the problem and not the solution.
