Subject: Thanks

Ms. Sheffield,
A very special thanks to you for your efforts to bring a parish, that has for
too long blatantly ignored the safety and well being of it's residents, into
action to remove the unsafe conditions of the roads in Ascension Parish..
You'll be happy to know that repairs to Babin Road are well under way, as well
as two other roads of the six I have so far put the parish on notice about.
I believe your efforts will make my future efforts to remove unsafe road
conditions in Ascension Parish much easier.

Mr. LeMieux,
I'm rather upset with the wording of your e-mail of 3-May-2000 to
Ms.Sheffield at WBRZ and copied to us.
The e-mail implies Ascension Dept. of Public Works had no intentions
of
repairing Babin Road Bridge or the other problem locations and it
was only
through the efforts of Ms. Sheffield and WBRZ these unsafe
conditions were
repaired.
Mr. LeMieux... Ms. Sheffield and WBRZ had absolutely no bearing on
DPW
repairing or not repairing these locations.
All these jobs were planned and scheduled before Ms. Sheffield
called for an
interview.
Approximately 4 weeks ago, I was notified of the Babin Rd. Bridge
problem.
The same day, DPW Road & Bridge superintendent was dispatched to the
location to investigate. He reported back to me the situation was
serious. A
work order was made and sent to engineering. A solution was
recommended and
necessary material were ordered. When the material was received, the
job was
scheduled. All of this was done before being contacted by Ms.
Sheffield.
I think we can work well together... however, sending out malicious
and
inaccurate information as this is not conducive to building such a
relationship...

Mr. Rouix,
For your information Ms. Sheffield and I started working on the
Babin Road issue in advance of contacting the parish.
The first paragraph of my email,
"A very special thanks to you for your efforts to bring a parish,
that has for too long blatantly ignored the safety and well being of
it's residents, into action to remove the unsafe conditions of the
roads in Ascension Parish.",
says exactly what it means that this parish has for too long ignored
safety issues and that channel two took an interest in the issue and
wanted to do something about it. Nothing more.
The second paragraph simply states that you have in fact started
repairs to Babin Road and two other roads I have put the parish on
notice about. Nothing more.
Your reading more into the text than is there. I suggest you back
up, take a deep breath and read it again.
