May 18, 2001 Mr. Robert Clouatre Dear Sir: I am again forced to bring to your attention the flagrant disregard for our student’s safety and well being at the Dutchtown Middle and Elementary schools. I was appalled to see pedestrian traffic, students, on the Dutchtown Middle School Road. A road barely wide enough for two vehicles to pass safely has students walking on it to and from school. Students are being forced to stand in the drainage ditches when vehicles pass them by. I was also dismayed to see that there is sometimes the absence of a school employee to monitor the discharge of middle school students from their vehicles in the morning, this morning being one such instance. I would think after these many months, no years, of portraying you and your school board as a bunch of bungling bumpkins you would have come to the realization that there are safety issues that in some instances could cause serious injury or even death to our students. Yet you still persist on ignoring these issues. I can only hope that when the time comes again to pick a superintendent that the powers that be see fit to remove you in favor of someone more attuned to student safety along with student excellence.
