September 10, 2000 Mr. Robert Clouatre Dear Sir: It seems that your school portraits program is geared toward forcing parents to pay much more for a portrait of their child than necessary. I would assume that most parents are much more interested in having an 8X10 inch portrait of their child than any other size Yet to acquire such a portrait one must shell out money for pictures they do not really want. I.e., the minimum one can spend to acquire an 8X10 portrait is nineteen dollars, twelve dollars for option “G” for picture sizes they do not want, and seven dollars for option #1, the actual 8X10 portrait. Or, shell out twenty-five dollars for option “C”, and get numerous sized pictures they do not really want either. Would it also be safe to assume that the school board receives a kick back from the sale of these pictures? And if so, would it also be safe to assume that the price structure is as it is because of greed? I am formally requesting that you answer this letter, and that you either change the price structuring, or find a studio willing to offer an 8X10 portrait without forcing parents to purchase pictures not wanted to boost the cost of the sale. Sincerely, Chuck Le Mieux Cc/Fax to: Ms. Elizabeth Stafford Dutchtown Primary Principle Ms. Cathy Meredith Dutchtown Middle Principle Cc/email to: A copy of this letter has been published to the web site In Ascension Parish at http://inascension.com
