As you know I have been working with the
candidates for Parish President and council members to pass an ordinance to
fine employers and those who rent to illegal aliens.
What some of you may not know is we now have
an ordinance in place defining a single family dwelling.
This ordinance is a start to rid this parish
of illegal aliens who rent a house and move anywhere from 2 or more families
into it.
This ordinance is a first positive step made
available to us to start removing illegals from this parish. Let's make the
most of it.
Below is the ordinance
defining a single family dwelling passed August 16th, 2007
Nowhere does it mention that
the dwelling should not be inhabited by illegal aliens.
The ordinance needs to be
amended to be brought up to current times and problems
If you know of or spot a house where you believe
illegals have moved in please send an email to
rcompton@apgov.us or if you feel
uncomfortable doing this contact me
clemieux@inascension.com with your suspicions and I'll report it
for you without your name being involved.

Are you opposed to residents of the parish reporting properties that have more

If not who would be the person or persons responsible to take the reports?

I’m not the least bit opposed. What we need are more enforcement officers and
faster track through the legal system. Officers attached to the Sheriff’s
Department would be nice, as would a dedicated Parish Attorney to prosecute the
cases.

The Planning Department. We are working a number of them right now. It is very
slow going through the legal process.

Mr. Sigler,
I would like to report a home that I suspect has more than one family residing
in it.
The residence is:
13101 Depen St.
Gonzales, La.
This is the same residence which is being used as a business, Morales Roofing,
which someone is supposed to be investigating this week.
Also I suspect that one or more people living there are illegal aliens.
Please inform me of the results of your investigations.

I am familiar with the Morales Roofing deal, and I know it is currently under
review.
We will report any activity involving questionable visa status to the
appropriate authorities. However, because nearly all of these zoning violations
result in court action, and because our Legal department cautions against it, I
regret that it is this department’s policy to not disclose information on a case
until it has been resolved. You will likely be contacted by someone in the
course of this investigation for any information you might have.

It has been brought to my attention that a house on Highway 621 adjacent to the
address 37295 is suspected on having more than one family residing there. It is
also suspected that those residing there are illegal immigrants. There is no
address number on the mailbox so I am sending a picture showing the residence in
question.

I would appreciate the matter looked into and the appropriate measures taken to
remedy the situation if necessary.

To those responsible for investigating violations of the single family dwelling
ordinance.
It has been reported to me that the house on Mazoch Road in Gonzales may be in
violation of the single family dwelling ordinance passed in August 2007. It is
also suspected that those residing there are illegal immigrants. Below is the
house in question.
Your immediate response to this matter would be much appreciated,

Since its inception each generation has left this country better off than the
previous generation.
EXCEPT FOR THIS GENERATION.

I'd hate to be here to find out what the next generation brings.

Mr. Wiley,
I will bring this to the attention of Mr.
Martinez who is very much in favor of ridding this parish of illegal
immigrants as are all of the new council members.
Hopefully together we can pass ordinances as
you say that have teeth in them.
Happy Holidays.
According to the ordinance, it
speaks to the parish building or permit official as the one being
responsible for initiating an investigation into a complaint such as yours.
It is my understanding that that is Laverne Bourgeois. I have had my command
level discuss this ordinance with Oneal Parrington (parish attorney) and his
opinion is that the process should begin with a complaint to the parish code
personnel, they would investigate, and if there is evidence of a violation,
then notify our office for action. ...........Unfortunately, this ordinance,
like many others passed haphazardly (keep in mind there was NO consultation
with this department on this), does not meet the needs of the problem.
...too few code enforcement personnel, etc...In any event, my office is
prepared to engage the problem if and when there is an ordinance that has
teeth in it,cearly describes what constitutes a violation, and defines the
role of the sheriff's office and parish code enforcement. Perhaps in the new
administration this can be accomplished...I assure you that I support
it...........Sheriff Wiley

Mr. Compton
et al,
It has been brought to my attention that a
house located at 13228 Depen Street is suspected on having more than one
family residing there. It is also suspected that those residing there
are illegal immigrants.
This is the third residence I have reported
since the ordinance went into effect. I as of yet have seen nothing done
about the first two reported. Hopefully your assignment to the planning
department which is responsible for enforcing the ordinance will get
something done about this.
