Subject: Missing traffic personnel

Mr. Songy,

Lately I have noticed more and more missing traffic personnel at the Dutchtown and Duplessis schools here in Gonzales.

Now I know every one has a right to sickness or other maladies that would not allow a traffic cop to be at his or her designated position. But I also believe that it is the responsibility of the principle of the school to know what is going on at his or her school at all times. And this includes knowing when a traffic cop is not at his or her designated area at the appropriate times.

I believe this responsibility is a must considering the dangers at these areas morning and evening. Might you intervene here and bring these principles up to date on their responsibilities? I don't think they have any idea what their responsibilities to their students and their parents are when it comes to traffic control.

What does it take to look out a window or walk to an area to see that the proper personnel are in place on time or the caution lights with the posted speed limits are working? Which by the way are not. It could save serious injury or god forbid death. We have enough injury and deaths due to traffic without your principles adding to it.

I have called the sheriff numerous times so far this school year to try and get a replacement. But by the time I become aware of it it is usually to late to have anything effective done.

Your investigation into this matter is a must not a request.
